Very good in the air, though he can attempt to be too forceful and try to win a header he has no chance of getting to, at times.

His key asset is his tackling, it tends to be excellent. The worry is that he is called upon to use it too often because his positioning can be suspect at times.

Decent enough on the ball to get by. He is not really a ball-playing defender, but he is not going to just panic and boot it up field when given time and space.

Very strong, it aids his tackling as he can use his body to muscle a player into a position he can tackle the ball from them.

Quick, very quick. His recovery pace enables him to cope with most forwards.

Very good in the air. Surprisingly so for a player known for being good with his feet, he is actually better at heading.

Known for being good with his feet, but his range of passes and vision leave a lot to be desired for a ball playing centre half. He is comfortable being on the ball but that is a long way from being a good passer of the ball.

Is improving in this area each season. No longer a weakness in his game, now he is strong enough to hold his own against most.

Good pace, one of the quicker centre halves, not just in outright pace, but also in acceleration.
