A very good passer, who could play the defence-splitting ball, but he did lack a little in vision at times, as he was always looking for the shorter pass he could sometimes miss the option to play the longer one. Though he was capable of playing them when he did spot them.

Had a cracking shot on him but what made him particularly good was the timing of his runs to get on the end of balls. That intelligence to spot when to get forward was far more important to his ability than his actual shooting.

Never his strong point, though he could put a foot in when required.

Again not his strong point. Lampard was not looking to beat a man, he preferred to do what he had to do quickly, before opponents had time to set themselves.

Decent enough in the air but nothing special. Again his timing could make up for it to get him on the end of balls, but he was always looking to use his feet if possible.

One of the better passers of the ball in recent times, just had a tendency to look for the 'Hollywood' ball a little too often, when it was not always the best option to take.

His shooting from long range was superb, but again, a tendency to take a shot on when there were better options lessened the effect it had in regular league play. However, in a big game, when it needed someone to step up and rescue Liverpool, it was usually Stevie G who came up trumps.

A very good tackler, the issue was that he was so forward thinking he would often get caught out and have to came racing in with a last ditch slide tackle. If he had just shown a little more defensive awareness then it would not have been needed.

Loved to burst past a defender with pace and power, but was not one for the mazy slalom dribble.

Was excellent in the air, it always seemed a waste to have him taking corners rather than being in the box to get on the end of them.
